History News Network has posted a new list of “Top Young Historians” – scholars under 40 years old who have made a big splash for their writing, contributions to the field, and impressive Vitas. Readers beware: their bios may cause severe feelings of inadequacy, but if you can get past this, the list makes for an interesting survey of new trends and patterns in the discipline. Included are Bethany Moreton (39), whose book on the intersection of Wal-Mart and Christian conservatism was featured at the CUSHWA seminar last year as well as Andrew Preston (36), whose new book on religion and American foreign policy is a delightful read. I guess its now official – at 41, I’m officially old.
