John Fea Spotlighted at Notre Dame's Cushwa Center

Congratulations to John Fea for a job well done as the spotlight author at the University of Notre Dame's Cushwa Center’s spring Seminar in American Religion. This is a big deal. For nearly thirty years, the Cushwa Center has been bringing in top historians and providing a forum for discussion among Notre Dame’s illustrious circle of scholars. Interestingly, the events draw plenty of Protestant historians and more than a few evangelicals. I attended these meetings first as a graduate student at TEDS -- observing at the back and looking for chances to meet the senior scholars during the social time. On one of these occasions I got to meet George Marsden, whose Fundamentalism and American Culture first opened my eyes to the critical study of American evangelicalism. Now I get to attend as a participant. I thought of those grad student days as I sat next to George today, chatted with him, and thanked him for writing the forward to the Activist Impulse. It was great to be part of this atmosphere and to see John in action among this standout crowd. Nice job John!
