A New Debate over Authorship: Shakespears's Plays

This week I am attempting to help my students in the class, Contemporary America and the World understand the backgrounds of American evangelicalism. Today we deal with the fundamentalist/modernist controversy, in which biblical higher criticism challenged traditional beliefs about authorship of the Hebrew canon. Interesting, it’s the canon of English literature that is facing controversies over authorship these days! Specifically, a new film challenges the assumption that Shakespeare wrote his own plays!
